Week 5..... powerpoint and interactive whiteboards

Hopefully this will work for everyone.... I used a screen capture program to record my powerpoint presentation.... I wanted to post it here as more proof of how easy it is to use video, power point and narrating altogether on a blog.... this took me less then an hour, I spent most of that time playing around with the animations.
This is a basic example of what can be used. we can take it as far as we like, having powerpoints set up so that students can work on their hand-eye co-ordination without having to use video games. And we can know that our students are accessing a child-safe program.

Interactive White Boards......
They are not something that I am familiar with. Having a look at some of the you tube clips though it is easy to see how they can be utilised within a classroom. I especially like the MIT sketching clip, this sought of use is great for cause and effect and before, during and after descriptions and children could use this to investigate different ways of doing things. I'd love to spend some time playing with one of these white boards to see what I can get out of it.

Hey Zelina,
What program did you use to do a recording of your powerpoint, I have always wondered how to do that! Very cool!!
Interactive whiteboards are so fun, I have had a play on a few back in England, we used to use ours everyday in the classroom they are brilliant. They really keep the children interested and they all want to have a go. You just have to make sure that all of the children have an equal turn.

Hi Laura,
I didn't realise it at the time of posting that video, if you peek forward to the last of the digital pedagogies there is a way of uploading your powerpoints.... I just did it the long way! Google free screen capture software if your still curious :)

Hello Zelina,

Brilliant! You may have saved me a lot of time seeking an alternative program, than SlideShare, to upload animated PowerPoint slides. I'm that excited - I'll try it now. I would be interested to know; if you are able to upload your same PowerPoint via SlideShare, as all of the blogs I have read so far, indicate the loss of animations, sound and other detail.

I also have to comment on your idea of using PowerPoint for hand and eye coordination. I can sum this up with one word "Innovative". Well done, I really enjoyed reading your blog.

Kindest regards,
Peter Spencer

Hello again,

I also like the way you have setup your blog comments as a separate window and offer to have follow-up comments forwarded to an email address by selecting a tick box. I will look into my settings and attempt to replicate this. If I have any issues, I know who to ask.

Thanks again.

Hi Peter!
I didn't really know that I had done anything so awesome but thanks! It's always good to hear that I have done something to start other people thinking.... Plus, my blog settings are nearly completely random! I fiddled and they work so I'm not going to change them!
If you need to compare settings let me know!

Hi Zelina,

Your PowerPoint is great and it's great to see that you had found the way to upload the presentation how it was designed. I have been looking through many screen capture programmes and some are a little hard to understand. I will continue to play around with them in hope I can re upload my presentation to show how it was actually designed. Thanks for the tip, I new there just had to be a way.
